Statistics are used throughout all professions. When flavour at health sell, statistics are used in a magnitude of ways. Statistics can be used to show anything from the outcomes of medications and procedures to the importance of contraceptive healthcare. In regards to my place of work, we use a survey called Press-Ganey, which is direct to all long-sufferings that are discharged home from the hospital. This survey asks questions regarding the diligents hospital stay, including such topics as appropriate imposition keep in line, promptness of call light response, quality of nursing staff, and boilersuit quality of care. The purpose of Press-Ganey is help transform your health care organization into a high performer. We do this through modern selective information collection, analysis, insights and consulting that improve clinical, operational, financial and experiential outcomes (About Us | Press-Ganey, 2012). Each month the survey data is complied and displayed for employees to see. The outcome of this data is used to increase patient satisfaction. Without the use of this survey, changes based upon what the patient wants would be unclear.




An example of changes that were make based upon results of the Press-Ganey survey was changes made to the way the history handles patients pain levels. A process was implemented based on the May tote up of patients satisfaction in pain control. Patients stated that pain was controlled single 48% of the time so a process was added to the floor called the pain pager. Through the television system, every two hours, a question prompts the patient to rate his or her pain on a scale from 0-10 on the television screen. The patient had the alternative to either answer the question or to not, and the answer would be transmitted to the pain pager, which the charge nurse is in control of.
