Batman:
The Man of Self

The infamous Batman quote describes his reason for living the sustenance he does, but can Batman take Grant Morrisons commentary of a superhero? The character of Batman in Arkham Asylum does not meet Grant Morrisons definition of a Superhero as defined in Supergods because his emplacement in society is unusually high for a superhero, he does not have a concern for society, he does not have any superhuman abilities, and more. In Arkham Asylum, Morrison focuses on what makes Batman Batman rather than having him fighting crimes in Gotham. But did Morrison completely trade the classic Batman, which the generations before once knew and loved?
Batmans social status is unnecessarily high for a superhero. However to the reader, Bruce Wayne could be seen as a superhero because his generous donation to charity, such the orphanage. With Bruce already having the title of a hero because of his charitable work in society it would be difficult for him to be considered a stereotypical superhero. This is because most superheroes are not notable for the work they had accomplished prior to their fault as a superhero, making it tough to compare Batman.
