The novella The remote Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was written by Robert Louis Stevenson who wrote it in just two days, whilst sick with a fever. His wife, who was nursing him, take in the completed manuscript and deciding it was rubbish, and was the deranged ramblings of a rattling ill, threw it onto the fire. Her husband simply rewrote this story - in another two days, and despite his wifes opinion he got it publish and it became a huge hit.
