Throughout Homers The Odyssey, a mortal, Odysseus, is trying to bring out his way back home and all the while he is under the ageless watch of a vast enactment of gods. His intact journey will be presided over by gods and his actions will have nothing to do with the outcome because everything has been predetermined by the gods and fate. Constantly throughout the story, as well as Homers other writing, we find that the gods are constantly intervening in the lives and world of mortals.
