SMOKING PATTERNS AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS 2
ABSTRACT
Smoking is increasing in young pornographics. Studies have shown that arse ingest
has increased in young adults since 1993.Substantial numbers of college students are both
start to sess regularly and trying to stop though unsuccess largey. The intention of this
study was to examine changes in the preponderance of cigarette smoking among City College
students during the day and in the evening. The study also examined which gender
smoked most. The subjects chosen for the study consisted of thirty randomly selected
students during the day and forty- ane randomly selected students in the evening. It was
hypothesized that men do not smoke more than women. It was also hypothesized that
smoking is prevalent during the day. The results obtained did not meet the hypothesis
that smoking is prevalent during the day. The hypothesis that men do not smoke more
than women was neither supported. Overall, cigarette smoking increased among the City
College students as the days went by. Thus, cigarette smoking is increasing among the
students.
National efforts to subject cigarette smoking should therefore, be directed
toward college students.

Smoking is one of the lead causes of lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. It

College students are the most knowledegible on the dangers of smoking. moreover they are the
most likely to smoke. Studies have found that adult smokers do not fully appreciate the
